“I have lived in the Pacific Northwest on San Juan Island for 48 years and my art has been greatly influenced by this beautiful place. Wildlife abounds and daily visits by deer, fox, raccoons, eagles, and rabbits enrich my life. As subject matter these creatures fire my imagination. Their individual beauty and majesty inspire my personal homage to them as expressed through my mixed medium sculptures. Paper mache, found objects, and clay are the foundation of each sculpture. Textiles, beading and painting are an essential part of the embellishment. All of my work invokes narrative. Each sculpture has a unique story to tell and share.
I believe there is a touch of mysticism in the arts. My muse delivers her magic on quiet wings and I must be patient and listen very carefully for her direction. These flights of imagination bring me into a world where rabbits wear clothes, read books and along with other mythic creatures live quite remarkable lives!”
