“Dyes have an immediate response of color with silk. I use contrasting colors and designs to explore how color influences mood and perception, using the silk first as a canvas with brush and dyes, then as form in scarves and clothing. I love contrasting colors and patterns to reflect mood and place. Each painting is then pieced, stitched and layered for wearing or framing. I am deeply influenced by living on San Juan Island, the nature that surrounds me in the quiet woods around my studio, and the open vistas of the Salish sea.”
