I began doing scrimshaw, a sailor's art, while sailing 1968-78. I sailed on many traditional sailing vessels, including a square rigged ship as well as my own 1914 sloop. I switched mediums in1980 to the original method of etching - hand engraving the metal plate. My prints are pulled on an etching press and are sometimes hand colored. Most of my subjects are ships and whales. I did whale research, public health, Peace Corps, was a volunteer fire chief and an elected official. I've also done picture framing and take pride in the presentations of my artwork.
